Rob Lowe Used C-SPAN To Find Dates (Read All About It In His New Memoir)

In his new memoir, Stories I Only Tell My Friends, Rob Lowe spills on his high-flying days in the 80s with the Brat Pack, and tells the world what it was like to date Demi Moore.

But our favorite story in the book comes from his claim that he would use his TV to find women to hook up with -- mainly dancers or models in videos on MTV.

He'd spot a gal he liked, then he would have his people call her people.

Besides models, he says he also became smitten by Oliver North's secretary, Fawn Hall, while watching the Iran-Contra hearings on C-SPAN. So, he had his people call her people -- then, they went on a couple of dates.

He even took her to a Hollywood awards show where Sally Field recognized Fawn and shot them both a look of shock. Nice.

Other awesome anecdotes revealed in Lowe's book?

  • A competition between himself and Charlie Sheen to see who partied harder (how timely);
  • How he passed out in Michael J. Fox's bed (drunken and curling up with Michael);
  • And, that his only friend -- who didn't abandon him during the whole sex-tape fiasco -- was Jodie Foster.

The book hits shelves Tuesday. (And yeah, we're totally getting it.)

Operation Potomac Fever: Stalking Rob Lowe in D.C.

OK. We'll admit it.

We stalked Rob Lowe while he was in town last week, working on his new Potomac Fever project.

But, instead of blasting it out then, we decided to wait until he left Washington, D.C. (because we're selfish and wanted to keep him to ourselves -- and because we didn't want him to have any real stalkers during his visit).

Here's a rundown of the places where we spotted Rob Lowe:

WEDNESDAY:
Rob was spotted at the Senate swearing-in and at M.E. Swing Coffee Co., at 17th and G Streets, NW, sipping some coffee as crews filmed.

Later, we spotted him at his hotel, Hotel Helix, then he dined at every VIP's favorite place, Cafe Milano, in Georgetown.

He left solo, around midnight, in a cab -- but not before our friend, Marky Mark, could grab a pic. Hotness! :-)

THURSDAY:
Rob spent the afternoon on Capitol Hill.

Later that evening (7 to 10 p.m.-ish) Potomac Fever's "proposed cast" and crew attended a cocktail party at Meridian International Center.

We left Yelp's event at the Crime & Punishment Museum as soon as we'd confirmed Rob's location, then we warned him via Foursquare that we were on the move. (We don't think he got that virtual memo, tho.)

We arrived at Meridian, wrote down all license plate numbers in the parking lot, then called them in to our police friends to see who was inside. Simultaneously, we got video tape of all the cast members and reports from the inside from our undercover source. But, since we were hiding in the bushes, our video is a little shady looking.

So, this phone pic -- of Rob and some "proposed" cast members -- will have to do:

Post-party, Rob hung outside for a bit with some blonde, catty biatches that weren't very nice to our friends. Rob, however, was super-sweet.

Afterwards, Rob and a few team members dined at Cashions. No limo. They took two cars -- one was a Maserati convertible, which Ali and I have decided we L.O.V.E. We did have some trouble following it in the big Lincoln SUV, tho. That thing can turn some fast corners.

Here is Rob, outside Cashions, with one of his biggest fans:

P.S. Cashions tweeted that he was there shortly after he arrived, which we viewed as a major fail. Let the man eat in peace!

FRIDAY:
More Potomac Fever filiming. Long day. Here is a pic Rob took with his camera phone, which we swiped from his Twitpic account:

SATURDAY:
Rob's flight back to Los Angeles was delayed a few hours, so he grabbed some coffee at the Starbucks in Dulles airport.

Misson accomplished. Operation Potomac Fever was a raging success.

Fluff or the right stuff? Meet Rob Lowe's 'proposed' Potomac Fever cast

What do you get when you put Hill staffers, a radio DJ, a Wizards cheerleader and a news anchor an in a room? Potomac Fever.

Last week, Rob Lowe and team put together a cocktail party at Meridian International Center and shot some footage for the the latest D.C.-based reality pilot, featuring some politicos -- Rep. Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.) and lobbyist Jack Quinn -- and the show's "proposed" cast:

  • Margaret Howell, an aspiring radio personality
  • 94.7 FM's DJ Tommy McFly (picture: bottom row, left)
  • WUSA Channel 9's Angie Goff (picture: bottom row, right)
  • Charles Moran, former communications director for Steve Cooley for Attorney General (picture: bottom row, center)
  • College student Miranda Frum (main picture: far right)
  • Kristie Muchnok, a Hill staffer and Wizards cheerleader

We also think we spotted McLean Robbins of Deacon Does DC, Tim Mak (main picture: second from left) and Rae Ryan (main picture: far left) -- not sure why they were there (more "proposed" cast members, perhaps?).

The show will follow young Washingtonians battling love and power as they move up the ranks in Washington, D.C.

Hey, we love any new reality show that is brave enough to step into in D.C. (hence my Real World DC appearances). But, we have one problem with Potomac Fever: we only see a few power players in the proposed cast.

And the rest? Fluff.
