There is a NY Post article about the One Lounge anniversary party, which published this weekend, that is completely full of false information.
It says:
"Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin moodily avoided photographers at the door at the first anniversary of One Lounge in DC the other night. But after a little word from a fellow Russian, club owner Filipp Zeldin, the shy hockey player turned his charm on for the crowd with his brightest smile. "Filipp whispered something in his ear in their native tongue, dragged him from his table and took him around to take party shots," a spy said. Ovechkin spent the rest of the night surrounded by blondes." -- NY Post
Ovie was not "surrounded by blondes." There were only a few around him.
The only ones I saw in the room were Glittarazzi's business development manager (Alicia Lewis); another was with my friend, Rich; another blonde is Nikki, a friend of mine who owns Boomerang Bus (she's married); another one was a PR guru friend of mine (who was in an adjacent room); Katy Adams from The Examiner; and one blonde I didn't know who appeared to be a friend of one of Ovie's friends. None of these gals had him "surrounded."
There were, however, lots of brunette groupies at the event, and Ovie was just being nice by posing with them. It's not like someone had to persuade him to do so.
Ovie was out for a little while, hanging with his friends -- fellow Caps players Alexander Semin and Semyon Varlamov -- at the One Lounge party. I didn't even see him drinking any alcoholic beverages, and he left One Lounge with his guy friends, then went home. (I know this for a fact because he and I left in cabs at the same time and we briefly chatted about how we were both going home.)
Ovie was definitely not surrounded by blondes or macking on blonde chicks (like the D.C. rumor mill is now trying to spread).
The NY Post should check its facts.
Here are the photos from the event. Was Ovie surrounded by blondes? Judge for yourself.
