Sarah Palin Invades Michele Bachmann's New Headquarters In Urbandale, Iowa

Last week, we were on location in Iowa, investigating the straw poll and finding "real America."

But instead, we found a heightened level of female poltickin' bitchassness.

You see, on Day 4, we visited the campaign headquarters for several GOP presidential candidates -- including Michele Bachmann's new HQ in Urbandale.

While we were there, we also stopped by a Panera Bread restaurant, which shares Michele's parking lot.

Sounds normal, right? Not really.

Turns out, this is the same Panera Bread and parking lot that Sarah Palin rolled into while the "Michele Bachmann for President" staff was moving into the new office.

So, while Michele's team was lifting heavy boxes, the Palins (Sarah and Todd) were doing lunch with Iowa Fundraiser Becky Beach; her dog, Jake; and Moe Sinclair (the owner of this particular Panera Bread).

Coincidence? We think not.

TERROR LEVEL: ORANGE

This video was taped in Urbandale, Iowa, outside Michele Bachmann's headquarters, on Tuesday, July 5, 2011, by Jed Dwyer. Michele "officially" opened the office on July 9.

Video: Ron Paul's New Campaign Ad Shows He's Ready For Hollywood

Ron Paul released his first presidential campaign ad in Iowa and New Hampshire.

And, the ad looks pretty flashy.

Unlike Michele Bachmann's biographic Iowa ad, Ron is focusing on the biggest issue facing the United States right now: the debt ceiling. The issue is scary enough on its own, but somehow Ron manages to make it terrifying.

Check out the video, below.

Rick Santorum Loves Angry Birds, Sudoku, Ice Cream & His BlackBerry [video]

Last week, we were on location in Iowa, investigating the straw poll and finding "real America."

On our last day there, we interviewed GOP Candidate Rick Santorum at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge.

He shared his obsession with Angry Birds (which has replaced his love for Sudoku) and techie gadgets (think iPhone and BlackBerry):

BlackBerry vs. iPhone:
"BlackBerry is just better. And, I also like the keyboard. ... I don't know whether I have fat fingers -- I just like to punch those little buttons."

Any guilty secret app pleasures?
"I would be busted if I didn't admit it, but yeah ... Angry Birds."

He also gave us a little info on his favorite on-the-road treats, as well as a history lesson on La Mars, Iowa, and some mail-order brides.

Watch our video to learn more about Rick -- he's quite the character. Who knew? :)

Iowa Food Roundup: From Fried Pickles To Pie Shakes

We really enjoyed Iowa. From meeting the GOP candidates to watching the fireworks over Clear Lake, our time out there was a lot of fun.

But, the thing we enjoyed the most? All of the food.

Here's a sampling of some of the great things Iowa has for you to feast on:

  • Fried pickles
  • Fried Twinkies
  • Fried Milky Ways, Snickers and 3 Musketeers
  • Pie Shakes

We also got to make the trip out to Centro in Des Moines, where several campaigners have been spotted before. (We heard President Obama is among them!) We tasted the Steak Centro -- which Ron Paul had when he went -- and the Spicy Sausage Rigatoni -- which John Kerry had.

And, we all gained 10 pounds.

GOP Candidate Tim Pawlenty Talks Lady Gaga, iPad, Country Music & Caffeine

This week, we are on location in Iowa, investigating the straw poll and finding "real America."

Wednesday, we interviewed GOP Candidate Tim Pawlenty.

He shared his favorite artists, techie gadgets, explained his nickname ("T-Paw") -- and asked us some questions about Lady Gaga.

This video was recorded Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Hickory's Hall in Ames, Iowa.

Rick Santorum Gets Down In Iowa (Think House Parties)

It looks like Rick Santorum is living it up on his bus tour through Iowa.

The former Pennsylvania Senator has been partying after hours -- and thanking the people who make his partying possible via Twitter.

Where's the next shindig, Rick? We want to party with you, too!

(Note: We realize these events are fundraisers at supporters' homes.)

Polls Show Mitt Romney #Winning; Michele Bachmann Right Behind

Mitt Romney is leading the polls in both Iowa and New Hampshire.

While Michele Bachmann was trailing his heels in the Iowa poll, there's a much larger gap between her and the former Massachusetts governor in the New Hampshire poll. She has made an 8-point jump since the last poll, without having any strong campaigning in the state as of yet. Mitt might need to watch his back.

Meanwhile, the other candidates are trailing so far behind those two, they're only in single digit percentages.

Here are the New Hampshire poll results:

  • Mitt Romney 35%
  • Michele Bachmann 12%
  • Ron Paul 7%
  • Rudy Giuliani 7%
  • Rick Perry 4%
  • Tim Pawlenty 3%
  • Sarah Palin 3%
  • Jon Huntsman 2%

You can find the Iowa poll results here.

Fashion Watch: Cally Gingrich Rocks The Gucci In Iowa

As Newt Gingrich kissed babies and shook hands in Clear Lake, Iowa, Monday, his wife, Callista (a.k.a. Cally), stood by her man -- rocking the Gucci loafers.

She looked fabulous in the shoes, which were the perfect choice for comfortable politickin'.

The couple walked the community's entire Fourth of July parade, which was long (trust us, we know -- were up and down that parade path like Kimora Lee on a Phat runway).

Lesson learned: we should have gone Cally's flat route -- versus our extremely uncomfortable Prada heels.

Iowa Straw Polling: Day 1 - Fried Twinkies, GOP & Carnival Rides In Clear Lake, Iowa

This week, Glittarazzi is on the road -- investigating the truth behind middle America, the Iowa Straw Poll and other interesting things (like fried pickles, SPAM and henna tattoos).

On Day 1, we charted our course for the week, as we visited the Fourth of July carnival and Main Street, USA, in Clear Lake, Iowa. (This town is Americana at its best!)

Stay tuned as our adventure develops. (Yes, the rumors are true -- Michele Bachmann did dance To Elvis for our video cam!)

Michele Bachmann Dances To Elvis' 'Promise Land' During Pizza Ranch Campaign Stop - Carroll, Iowa

Michele Bachmann rolled into the parking lot of Pizza Ranch in Carroll, Iowa, this afternoon -- via tour bus -- to the tune of Elvis Presley's "Promised Land."

She was in high spirits and looking fab in a navy and white striped pencil skirt, white cami-style tank top, pearls and navy cardigan as she talked about her dislike of Obamacare and teleprompters.

"In a Michele Bachmann White House, there will be no teleprompter," she joked as her husband laughed by her side.

The crowd of approximately 60 senior citizens and several 40- and 50-somethings was sprinkled with a few children and, well, us: the Glittarazzi. And, despite the light rain (and quiet crowd), it was a fun event -- especially since we got to see Michele dance at the end. Who knew she was so light on her feet?

Since the Elvis song played at the beginning and end of her meet and greet, we are wondering ... is "Promised Land" her new theme song?

At other stops, she's played Katy Perry's "Firework," which got the gay community all riled up; then, Tom Petty asked that she not not use his song "American Girl" for her campaign.

(Personally, we loved Michele's Elvis dance moves and think she should stick with The King!)

Note: I screwed up -- it's "Promised Land" -- not "Promise Land." (That's what I get for blogging from a McDonald's parking lot.)

Michele Bachmann & Newt Gingrich Will Celebrate July 4 Together

Michele Bachmann and Newt Gingrich will be participating in the Clear Lake July 4 parade.

The stop is one that many political candidates campaigning in Iowa have made before -- including the Clintons and Mitt Romney.

Sources say that, though Ron Paul will also have supporters walking in the parade; the congressman himself will not be there.

Michele Bachmann's Got Bieber Fever

Michele Bachmann can be hip, too.

As the GOP presidential candidate was shaking hands after her presidential bid announcement in Iowa yesterday, the media crowded around her -- which caused one Bachmann family member to have to squeeze through.

"Now you know how Justin Bieber feels," Michele joked.

President Obama Can't Get Enough Chili Burgers

While Michelle Obama is off doing push-ups with Archbishop Desmond Tutu, President Obama is eating chili burgers in Iowa.

The President made an unannounced lunch stop at Ross' Restaurant this afternoon.

"Anybody who wants one, I will buy it for you," the POTUS said. "Anybody in the press corps has to eat the whole thing. I already got some takers on the plane though, so we're going to order four Magic Mountains and two Volcanos. Any takers on the press?"

There was no reply, to which he answered: "You chickens."

The press was probably feeling daunted.

(We don't think we could eat that much chili in one go, either, Mr. President!)

Obama Speaks In Iowa On The Economy

President Obama spoke in Iowa today, addressing the economy in front of the Alcoa Inc. manufacturing plant.

His speech addressed the importance of manufacturing in leading the U.S.'s economic recovery.

"Turns out you're responsible for the wings on Air Force One, so I want to thank you for getting me here safely," he said. "It was a smooth ride."

He did speak seriously, however, on needing to work hard to get the economy to bounce back.

"We've got more work to do. These problems did not develop overnight, and won't be solved overnight," said the President. "But we will solve them."
