Miss America Loves Georgetown Cupcake

When Miss America's in Washington, D.C., one of her favorite places to go is Georgetown Cupcake.

"I love Georgetown Cupcakes," Teresa Scanlan, Miss America 2011, told us at a reception this evening. In fact, she said she tries to visit the bakery every time she comes to town.

See? Even beauty queens can't resist our hometown treats.

Miss America 2011 Teresa Scanlan: Republican?

Miss America 2011 Teresa Scanlan is in town this week, and, lucky us, we got to meet her.

The 18-year-old Nebraska native said she comes to Washington, D.C., a lot.

And, when she is here, she said she always stays at the St. Gregory Luxury Hotel & Suites, grabs a Georgetown Cupcake, and makes sure to dine at Cafe Milano.

But her absolute favorite part of the District, she said, is Capitol Hill (which is where we met up with her -- at a reception with Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex, for the International Duke of Edinburgh's Award).

After her reign, Teresa said she plans to attend law school, to become a judge -- and then, she'd like to get into politics.

She also told us that she considers herself a "constitutionalist" and that she would vote for the GOP candidate that supports the U.S. Constitution the most.

Wait a minute, does that mean Miss America 2011 leans Republican?

You know how ... Miss America's hair always looks perfect on TV? Well, Teresa's hair is perfect in person. We have total hair envy. And, not only does she have great hair, she is the youngest woman to be named Miss America (Teresa was 17 when she was crowned).

Annual Congressional Picnic: Members & Their Families Mingle At White House

The South Lawn of the White House was drenched in sunshine as the Congressional Picnic kicked off this evening.

And Barack Obama took full credit.

Members of Congress -- Democrats and Republican alike -- and their families enjoyed an annual tradition of casual dining and homestyle schmoozing at the home of POTUS and FLOTUS this evening

As the Navy band played, hotdogs, hamburgers, fried chicken and funnel cake was served. (Yummy!)

"I take full responsibility for the weather," said the President, smiling, right before he made a few more remarks, stepped onto the lawn and then mingled it up.

Jane Lynch To Host Emmys?

Jane Lynch, our favorite little Glee-bitch-turned-nice-girl, has been tapped to possibly host the Emmys on Sept. 18.

If chosen, Jane would be the third woman ever to host the Emmys.

Our vote's for Jane. With her snappy wit, we think she could be every bit as fabulous as last year's host, Neil Patrick Harris.

The decision will be made Wednesday

Larry King To Host Peabody Awards

Larry King is all set to host tonight's 70th Annual Peabody Awards at the Waldorf Astoria hotel.

The awards honor excellence in television, radio, and web broadcasting. Among this years' winners are an episode of teen favorite Degrassi, the always interesting podcast Radiolab, and BBC's Sherlock (which stars the hilariously-named-but-still-way-sexy Benedict Cumberbatch).

We're excited to see who wins, but, honestly, we think Glittarazzi should get a prize for our fabulous coverage of recent events.

Larry King's been busy -- this weekend, he was also the featured speaker at the University of San Diego's commencement ceremonies.
