Barack Obama Announces 2012 Re-Election Bid on YouTube

Washington, D.C., is buzzing -- after Barack Obama and Joe Biden announced the Obama-Biden 2012 re-election bid this morning.

The news came in a very trendy, inexpensive (yet efficient) way ... via video on YouTube and BarackObama.com, as well as an e-mail.

The president said he'll file his official 2012 campaign papers today.

The e-mail note, which was sent to the duo's entire mailing list, was signed: "Barack" ...

Is The Prez Lonely?

Obama is going through a bit of a rough time.

His critics are giving him flack for everything -- from his handling of the situations in Egypt and Libya to his NCAA bracket.

And, everyone around him is kind of busy. The First Lady is working the White House Garden, Joe Biden's getting train stations named after him, and Rahm Emanuel is mayoring Chicago.

He also got locked out of The White House.

So, it's understandable that he might be looking for someone just to hang with. You know, to shoot the breeze.

That's probably why he made a surprise White House press corps visit on Air Force One while mid-flight this week. Apparently, he caught the seasoned reporters in the middle of some relaxing and watching a movie -- Fair Game, staring Sean Penn and Naomi Watts to be exact.

The President causally asked what they were up to and if the film was any good. But, before they could begin their pesky press questions, he was gone.

Barack, listen, if you want to hang, just call us.

We can chill, drink some of that home-brewed honey ale you've got in the White House, and talk about how the Nationals look this season.

And, none of those pesky, traditional reporter questions -- we promise.

Train Of Thought: Amtrak Names Station After Joe Biden -- But, What Do Other VEEPs Get?

You know, normally Vice Presidents are regulated to the sidelines; meant to just have a pulse.

But hey, times change.

Joe Biden just got a train station named after him.

Amtrak officials recently changed the name of the Wilmington, Del., station to the"Joseph R. Biden, Jr., Railroad Station" in honor of the VEEP who famously commuted via train from Wilmington every day to Washington, D.C.'s Union Station while representing Delaware as Senator for more than 36 years.

Joe and his family were on hand at the ceremony this weekend, which officially opened the station after a two-year renovation.

We're still waiting for something cool to be named after another recent VP.

Take Al Gore, for example.

He created the Internet
-- and all he got was a school built on toxic soil.

Editor's note: The editorial board is pleased that there is now a nice 'n' pretty station in Wilmington, Del., which is where Glittarazzi, LLC, is based.

State of the Union? Colorful

Ah, America.

The melting pot.

We were happy to see all the USA's beautiful colors represented during President Obama's State of the Union address.

However, as our friend, Gabe, so eloquently put it: "I think the orange one is about to cry."

Tears of joy? Probably not.

Hey, is that Joe Biden with some popcorn?

When the cat is away, Joe Biden will play.

One of our spies just spotted our vice president at the AMC Loews theater in Georgetown. He was walking out of a movie with just a couple of Secret Service agents.
