DC Young Republicans sip 'Candy Cane Conservatives' as they party down at L2

L2 Lounge in Georgetown was the site of the DC Young Republicans' annual holiday party and membership drive this past Wednesday.

The event was co-sponsored by Dee Dee Benkie, candidate for Secretary of the Republican National Committee.

Dispelling the notion that all Republicans are of the blue hair variety, this group of about 200 energetic 20- and 30-somethings partied the night away while sipping on holiday-political themed drink specials like "Holiday House Majoritinis," "Candy Cane Conservatives" and "Pineapple Politicos" as a photo montage of this year's election cycle deployment trips to Massachusetts, Ohio, Connecticut, North Carolina, West Virginia and Virginia played on the walls of L2.

Young Conservative Coalition celebrates holidays at Lupe Mexican Cantina

The 2010 election cycle maybe over, but young Republicans, conservatives and Libertarians still have much to celebrate -- including the holidays.

And, yes, Virginia, there is a vibrant social scene for young people of such political inclinations in the D.C. Metro area.

Chris Malagisi, President of the Young Conservative Coalition (YCC) and a "Campaigns and Elections Rising Star of 2009," played host to more than 300 of his closest friends Saturday night at Lupe Mexican Cantina near Dupont Circle at the YCC's 3rd annual "Christmukkahkwanzaavus" holiday party.

The event was sponsored by Townhall/HotAir and co-sponsored by America's Future Foundation (AFF), Arlington/Fall Church Young Republicans, Conservative Inclusion Coalition, DC Young Republicans and First Fridays (Derek Hunter).

The special drinks for the evening's festivities included "The Shellacking," "Aqua Buddha" and "The Rent is Too Damn High."
