Who, what, where? FLOTUS at China President Hu Jintao's Arrival Ceremony

WHO?
First Lady Michelle Obama

WHAT?
Over-the-knee boots

WHERE?
Outside the Diplomatic Reception Room shortly after 9 a.m. today, as she awaited the arrival of China's President Hu Jintao for the Arrival Ceremony, which begins the State Visit.

THE DEETS:
First Lady Michelle Obama was looking totally chic in red leather gloves and over-the-knee black suede boots today -- which she also wore to her birthday dinner at The Source on Monday (see photo, below). According to the East Wing, Mrs. Obama's black coat and dress were designed by Roksanda Ilincic, a Serbian designer who works out of London.

VERDICT:
The over-the-knee boots are a FIRST in history for first ladies. The Glittarazzi approves!

D.C.'s Jenn Jowett: Cut off, arrested

Have you seen the show "You're Cut Off" on VH1 yet?

Last night, we watched and saw a familiar face from the Washington, D.C., area:

"Jenn lives a pampered life supported by her parents. When she's not flying to her family's other homes in Florida, Las Vegas, or DC, Jenn spends much of her time poolside, getting a tan, or at the plastic surgeon's office. She expects her weekly allowance to hit her bank account on time and only returned back to school so her parents wouldn't make her get a job."

Sounds fab (not really).

TMZ is reporting that Jenn (who declared on the show, "Ugly people annoy me") was pulled over for talking on her cell phone while driving -- and when the officer approached the vehicle, the cop detected alcohol on her breath.

DUI.

Well, maybe she'll get some valuable job training in prison some day. ...

Please donate in memory of Milos and Radovan (and to help their families transport them back to Serbia)

Dear friends,

We are seeking to help raise funds for our fallen friends, Radovan and Milosc, to cover the costs of sending them back home to their families in Serbia.

Both Milosc and Radovan were good guys who were truly loved. They worked at Josephine (Radovan) and Fly Lounge (Milosc) and were icons in the nightlife community.

Early Friday morning, when the vehicle they were in crashed, they were on their way home from work. [Article: Washington Post - Police ID men killed in crash on Canal Road]

If you have not yet donated, we ask that you please do as soon as possible to help us reach our goal of $30,000 ($15,000 per person) -- to cover transportation and other costs associated with getting their bodies home to Serbia.

Thank you to those that have donated and to those who have helped to get the word out. We will continue to update you.

If more is donated, the money will be given to their families -- which both Milosc and Radovan both worked hard here in the United States to support.

Thank you all -- and please keep spreading the word. God bless.

Warm regards,

Kelly Ann Collins
Editor, Glittarazzi

Caps raise more than $300K -- in one night -- for charity

Nearly 500 fans helped the Washington Capitals raise $304,900 for charity at the second Caps Care Casino Night and Auction this week at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center in Alexandria, Va.

A majority of the money raised will benefit Washington Capitals Charities, which supports community programs in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.

Some of the most popular auction items at the event included:

  • A coaches' cocktail party at Bruce Boudreau’s home with Bruce and Crystal Boudreau, Dean and Sherry Evason and Bob and Mary Sue Woods that raised the most money of any item ($25,000).
  • Wine tasting with the Bruce and Crystal Boudreau, Mike and Megan Knuble and David and Diondra Steckel in a private room at Total Wine & More featuring eight hand-selected wines, stemware and an educational handout for tasting notes ($11,250).
  • A hockey clinic for 20 people at Kettler Capitals Iceplex with assistant coach Bob Woods, forwards Matt Hendricks and Brooks Laich, defenseman Mike Green and goaltender Semyon Varlamov ($10,000).
  • Two lucky Caps fans will watch John Wall and the Wizards take on LeBron James and the Miami Heat in VIP seats with Caps captain Alex Ovechkin and left wing Jason Chimera. After the game, the group will be escorted to the floor for a photo ($8,000).

Doors opened at 6 p.m. to VIP ticket holders, who mingled with the entire team along with coaches and owners. After that the players entered the gaming area, which featured blackjack, craps, roulette and Texas hold ’em. There were instructional tables along with video game stations – Wii bowling and Rock Band. Participants were treated to complimentary food – lamb pita, shrimp and boursin filo bundle, quail, Maryland crab cake sliders, kobe beef sliders, cubano sliders, a sushi bar, a sate bar and a liquid nitrogen ice cream bar – along with beer, wine and signature cocktails.

Coach Bruce Boudreau was celebrating more than casino night -- it was his birthday!

Alex Semin and Alex Ovechkin, looking serious. (Ovechkin is also featured in the main photo.)

Operation Potomac Fever: Stalking Rob Lowe in D.C.

OK. We'll admit it.

We stalked Rob Lowe while he was in town last week, working on his new Potomac Fever project.

But, instead of blasting it out then, we decided to wait until he left Washington, D.C. (because we're selfish and wanted to keep him to ourselves -- and because we didn't want him to have any real stalkers during his visit).

Here's a rundown of the places where we spotted Rob Lowe:

WEDNESDAY:
Rob was spotted at the Senate swearing-in and at M.E. Swing Coffee Co., at 17th and G Streets, NW, sipping some coffee as crews filmed.

Later, we spotted him at his hotel, Hotel Helix, then he dined at every VIP's favorite place, Cafe Milano, in Georgetown.

He left solo, around midnight, in a cab -- but not before our friend, Marky Mark, could grab a pic. Hotness! :-)

THURSDAY:
Rob spent the afternoon on Capitol Hill.

Later that evening (7 to 10 p.m.-ish) Potomac Fever's "proposed cast" and crew attended a cocktail party at Meridian International Center.

We left Yelp's event at the Crime & Punishment Museum as soon as we'd confirmed Rob's location, then we warned him via Foursquare that we were on the move. (We don't think he got that virtual memo, tho.)

We arrived at Meridian, wrote down all license plate numbers in the parking lot, then called them in to our police friends to see who was inside. Simultaneously, we got video tape of all the cast members and reports from the inside from our undercover source. But, since we were hiding in the bushes, our video is a little shady looking.

So, this phone pic -- of Rob and some "proposed" cast members -- will have to do:

Post-party, Rob hung outside for a bit with some blonde, catty biatches that weren't very nice to our friends. Rob, however, was super-sweet.

Afterwards, Rob and a few team members dined at Cashions. No limo. They took two cars -- one was a Maserati convertible, which Ali and I have decided we L.O.V.E. We did have some trouble following it in the big Lincoln SUV, tho. That thing can turn some fast corners.

Here is Rob, outside Cashions, with one of his biggest fans:

P.S. Cashions tweeted that he was there shortly after he arrived, which we viewed as a major fail. Let the man eat in peace!

FRIDAY:
More Potomac Fever filiming. Long day. Here is a pic Rob took with his camera phone, which we swiped from his Twitpic account:

SATURDAY:
Rob's flight back to Los Angeles was delayed a few hours, so he grabbed some coffee at the Starbucks in Dulles airport.

Misson accomplished. Operation Potomac Fever was a raging success.

Transformers' Bumblebee crash: More than $42K in damages

Talk about a police sting ...

Remember while crews were filming Transformers: The Dark of the Moon -- and a D.C. police SUV accidentally crashed into BumbleBee, the movie's a yellow Chevrolet Camaro?

Well, we've learned via blogger Dave Jamieson (via a FOIA request) that the accident caused an estimated $29,507 in damages to Bumblebee, and $13,076 to the cop's vehicle, a 2005 Chevy Suburban.

The next time I'm driving -- and my police friends are making fun of me for being a nerd behind the wheel -- I'm so bringing this up. ...
