If this is true, the election of President Obama is even more historic than we originally thought. ...
According to Ancestry.com, the POTUS is a descendant of John Bunch, the first African enslaved in the United States.
Interestingly, the lineage doesn't trace back through Barack Obama, Sr., but, rather, through his mother, Stanley Ann Dunham.
Ancestry.com explains that the POTUS's mother comes from a mixed-race family, which intermarried with freed slaves. History says that John -- Obama's supposed 11th great-grandfather -- was born from a white mother, and was married to a white woman.
We're actually hoping that this story is true -- because it would truly be poetic if the descendant of the first African slave became the first African-American President of the United States!

DiD yOu KnOw? ... President Obama is also part Irish! So, when he made the trip to Ireland with Michelle, he obviously reconnected with his roots by downing a Guinness, like a true Irishman.
