Photos: President Obama Honors World Series Champions St. Louis Cardinals At White House

President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama welcomed the 2011 World Series Champion -- the St. Louis Cardinals -- to the White House this week in honor of its victory.

POTUS also recognized the Cardinals' efforts in their community. In addition to charity memorabilia auctions, the team's charity work includes:

  • Redbird Rookies - a special baseball league, sponsored by Cardinals Care, that provides kids with the means to play baseball as well as support needed to reach their goals. It also provides volunteer opportunities.
  • Stand Up To Cancer - the Cardinals also competing with other teams through this innovative program to raise funds for cancer research.
  • Doin' It Right - the team also makes several appearances each year at schools (K-6) to mentor children on the importance of staying in school, keeping fit and saying "no" to drugs.

Before the Cardinal's White House visit, team members also visited Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to thank wounded service members for their service.

Now, that's what we call #winning!
