It's no secret that these are tough economic times.
A lot of people are having trouble finding work and making ends meet -- but, it looks way more people than we thought need help putting food on the table.
In fact, more than 46 million -- or, one out of seven -- Americans were enrolled in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in June, according to a new report. That's 15% of Americans and the largest number of people receiving food stamps in the USA ... ever.
Yeah, that's a lot of people on food stamps.
The numbers were announced just days before a job report is due out from the Labor Department. And, while the two pieces of info are both used as indicators to understand the state of the economy, many experts are now claiming that the food stamps number is the better tool for gauging the economy. It seems that, along with people who don't have jobs, there are folks who can only find work that doesn't pay enough so they need government assistance.
The Donald (a.k.a. Trump) does not approve.
