Seattle Children's Hospital Brings The Awesome: Virtual Cats To Cancer Patients

cat cancer 2012 08 13

You might remember Seattle Children's Hospital's oncology unit for its amazing rendition of Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger," which made rounds on the Internet a few months ago.

Well, they're back with another inspiring YouTube video -- so, get the box of tissues ready before you watch it (below).

This time, the hospital put together a project for its cancer patients who are stuck in isolation due to weak immune systems. Patients, like Maga Barzallo Sockemtickem, miss not only the company of their families and friends, but even of their pets who have to stay at home.

To alleviate the loneliness, the hospital asked Facebook users to send in pictures of their pets -- and received more than 3,000 from folks wanting to help out. The team combined the pics into a slideshow with cat-purring noises, and played them inside a canvas tent for her to enjoy.

We're tearing up just thinking about it.
