Are You Friends With A Sex Offender On Facebook? If So, This Law Might Help

A new law in Louisiana requires sex offenders to state their status on their Facebook profiles -- an effort to keep predators away from vulnerable underage users.

Even though social networking sites have tried to remove sex offenders from their websites, Louisiana Rep. Jeff Thompson, who introduced the new law, wants to make sure nobody gets through any loopholes.

Facebook has previously worked with law enforcement to get rid of predators on the website, and it states in its policy that no sex offenders can register with them, anyway. But, in a digital world where you can pretend to be anyone you want, we agree with measures that might make it safer for kids to explore the Internet.

They're going to do it whether we want them to or not, right?
