It's no secret that we've got a thing for whole-fruit smoothies and fresh-squeezed juices.
But, our kitchen blenders and dishwashers can't seem to keep up with our poor kitchen skills and (thrice) daily smoothie demand.
And, those trips to Whole Foods to stock our fridge with fresh goodies? Well, they are becoming so frequent that the checkout boy thinks we're stalking him.
Thank goodness for Jamba Juice!
The leading restaurant retailer of "better-for-you, specialty beverage and food offerings" celebrated the grand opening of its first store in our Nation's Capital this week (just a few blocks from our office) with a juice party hosted by Washington Kastles Tennis Star and Jamba Juice Entrepreneur Venus Williams.
"I am thrilled to be in D.C. to celebrate the opening of my newest store," Venus, a raw vegan, said.
"For more than 10 years my family and I have worked closely with the District government and various community leaders to offer adults and children greater opportunities through education and sports. My partnership with Jamba Juice is an extension of that commitment in the fight against obesity and to promote a healthy active lifestyle."
In addition to Jamba Juice execs, senior Obama Administration officials and politicians, many Washington socialites joined Jamba Juice fans on the orange carpet to celebrate the store's opening -- and to highlight Jamba's "Team Up For Healthy America" and "JambaGO" initiatives, which are both designed to offer parents, teachers, students, government officials and community leaders solutions for eating healthier and staying active.
This Dupont-Circle location is the second store in the region opened by the company and Venus in the past two years. (In July 2011, Venus joined Jamba team members to celebrate the opening of her first store in the Westfield Montgomery Mall, located in Bethesda, Md.) And, later this week, the company will open an additional store in Union Station. (Finally, healthful snacks to take on the train!)
So, if you are in Washington, D.C., we recommend that you stop by one -- or all -- of Venus' new locations and try some deliciously healthful treats.
Your waistline, clanking blender and fidgety grocery boy will thank you for it.
