HLN Anchor Jane Velez-Mitchell received PETA's "Movers and Shakers" award this week at a reception in Washington, D.C.
The award was given for her efforts to discuss animal rights issues on her show, which have helped PETA to put an end to some animal abuse instances, such as getting the U.S. army to stop using monkeys in nerve gas exercises.
Jane's efforts have even put a halt to some practices outside of the continental U.S. She got people to notice the suffering faced by dogs in China who are killed for their fur, for one.
We're glad to see such a wonderful woman recognized for her efforts, and happy to see her here in Barack Obama's back yard!
