Best Friends Forever: John McCain & Joe Lieberman

Good friends are hard to find.

And, finding people you can kind of trust in Washington, D.C.? There's a difficult challenge.

So, you can imagine our surprise when we heard there were a couple of high-profile Capitol Hill politicians, representing different parties, that actually get along.

After a bit of fun investigating -- and interviewing them separately -- we discovered that not only are Senators John McCain (R-Ariz.) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) friends ... they're best friends.

From traveling and Shabbats to books and galas, the GOP leader and Democrat-turned-Independent are 100% BFFs.

The duo:

  • recently received the American Patriot Award together;
  • discussed Muslim unrest with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu earlier this year;
  • met with Libyan Leader Moammar Gadhafi in 2009; and
  • brought the Climate Stewardship Act (2003) to a vote in the United States Senate.

John and Joe are inseparable and seem to have fun, as they get the job done, no matter what. Some might even say they have a true Pollywood bromance going on.

So, if all's fair in gov and war, we have one question: McCain-Lieberman 2012, anyone?
