This week marked the beginning of the 19th Annual International AIDS Conference in Washington, D.C.
So, you know we had to get the scoop!
We stopped by a panel session on "Improving Effectiveness and Efficiency in the HIV Response'' -- which openend with speeches by Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and featured U.S. Global AIDs Coordinator Eric Goosby; World Bank President Jim Yong Kim; Bill Gates, co-founder and co-chairman of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and chairman and former chief executive of Microsoft; and Lesotho Minister of Health Mphu Ramatlapeng.
We also caught a session -- "Can Public-Private Partnerships Help Those who Think Globally, Act Locally?" that was keynoted by singer-songwriter Elton John.
