Let's be honest ... public elections have a lot of useless traditions.

Thankfully, the Obamas are putting an end to it and becoming the first POTUS and FLOTUS to vote before the election via absentee ballots.

And, like most deaths of useless traditions, this went down on Twitter.

On Monday, Michelle Obama sent out a tweet with the above picture of herself with an absentee ballot she was about to pop in the mail that read, "Hey, @BarackObama, I just dropped my absentee ballot in the mail – I couldn't wait for Election Day! Love you! –mo."

The president respond by tweeting, "I'm following @MichelleObama's example and voting early, on October 25. If your state has early voting, join me -bo."

Considering that both the President and First Lady are busy people -- and the time it would take travel all the way to their Chicago polling station and cast their votes -- this approach makes sense. Also, we're pretty sure this public display will encourage others to vote by mail.
