Kelly Ann Collins
Kelly Ann Collins — a.k.a. KAC — is a blogger, entrepreneur and communications specialist.
She founded the Washington, D.C., blog in 2002 — which was believed to be “the first social blog,” and was visited by approximately 80,000 people a day.
Now, she’s the force behind Glittarazzi, which is quickly becoming a household name in Washington with more than half a million visitors per month.
Kelly Ann considers herself a geek at heart (yes, she can hand-code HTML). But, as Washington’s top social Twitterer — with more than 4,500 friends on Facebook (plus a new fan page) — she has proved that being smart doesn’t mean you can’t have a lot of friends as well.
- KAC was recently named a Washington “Leader of the Pack” by the POLITICO:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/discussion/2006/11/09/DI2006110901119.html - Her appearances on The Real World (Season 23) have been recognized by bloggers and the media:
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/reliable-source/2010/02/real_world_dc_hookups.html - KAC is known as such a social being that when she stays in, it makes headlines:

Power, Provenance, Means & Discretion
“Which brings us to another topic of discussion at the Washington Antiques Show: Politico’s list of the new “leaders of the pack” of social Washington. … It listed ten young women, who in an earlier era would have been known as “party girls,” but thanks to blogging, networking and the modern trend of bold self-promotion, are a new breed of not really “society” so much as social professionals, or So-Pro’s. With a combo of unabashed ambition and entrepreneurial pluck, they’ve made social life into a paycheck, a new business model where Paris Hilton is the prototype. They pitch, they promote, they organize, they show up, they blog about it and they get paid for being, well, themselves.”

On the list: White House crasher No. 3 had an ‘actual’ invite to Tattoo Bar
“While Michaele and Tareq Salahi have started charging for appearances at nightclub parties, it looks as though White House crasher No. 3 will show up for free. Carlos Allen was spotted last week at an ’80s ZZ Top party at Tattoo Bar, an event he was “actually” invited to by Glittarazzi blogger and club promoter Kelly Ann Collins via Facebook. …”

Politico’s Story on Washington “Socialites”
Most of my readers live outside of Washington, D.C., so I would like to share a story that Politico’s Kiki Ryan and Patrick Gavin did on Washington Socialites. Politico highlighted ten of us in the article. The majority of those highlighted are or have been bloggers, including Katherine Kennedy, Pamela Sorensen, Kate Michael, Angie Goff, Courtney Caldwell, and Kelly Ann Collins, who created Washington’s very first blog covering the District’s social life – WashingtonSocialites.com, which she shut down in 2005. 01/06/10
OH MY GOFF!

Face off: Dueling D.C. ‘Real World’ premiere parties?
“Just a few months ago, it seemed like most D.C. residents despised MTV’s “The Real World” for bringing cameras into bars, making partygoers sign STD/nondisclosure waivers and getting rowdy in the Dupont Circle neighborhood. But now that the cameras are gone, contention has shifted from spats with the cast to rivalry over who is throwing the best premier party Wednesday night. …”
