Leftbank, Adams Morgan’s sleekest lounge, will close this weekend because of “the recession,” says owner Bekir Gunes.

Bekir, who started out in the valet business — parking cars for Cities, Leftbank’s predecessor, and then worked his way up to an owner in the Adams Morgan venture — says he is “disappointed to close the restaurant that he bought in 2004.”

But don’t worry, folks. We hear a group of investors has purchased the rights to the “Cities” name. And so, the legend will live on soon. Somewhere in the K Street area. …
