About Kelly Ann Collins
In 2009, Kelly Ann Collins started Glittarazzi as a fun hobby.
But, when her blog started receiving a lot of traffic -- up to 60,000 views per article -- she knew it was time to take the plunge. So, she teamed up with some of the brightest minds she knew and created Glittarazzi LLC on Feb. 28, 2011.
Since then, Kelly Ann and her team have taken Glittarazzi many places, including:
- the White House;
- the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio;
- Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis;
- haunted mansions of Savannah, Ga.;
- a 10-city tour across the USA;
- the GOP presidential campaign trail;
- Michael Jackson's boyhood home;
- major TV networks;
- the cornfields of Iowa; and
- Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Miami, biatch.
Kelly Ann's other experience includes work in a variety of media realms -- including TV, newspapers, radio and the web -- and more than 20,000 published articles. She has been recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists and she's won several news association awards for publications she's managed.
Her experience includes a stint as the news desk team leader at USA Today. While she was there, she ran the 6 o'clock morning news shift; helped to create the brand's first e-newletter; and helped to launch a co-branded news product, along with Hewlett-Packard, that serves the media giant's readers in Europe and Asia.
In 2005, she launched the editorial/news department and managed 36 weekly, daily and monthly e-newsletters for Revolution's health network as she managed editorial projects for the National Community Pharmacists Association. While she was there, she also worked to get the Case Foundation's ABC2 more involved with the Race For Hope, and worked to raise funds for PlayPumps.
Her editorial work has also graced the virtual (and sometimes print) pages of People; Cosmopolitan; Vital Juice; The Associated Press; The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review; The Washington Times; Lifetime Television; The National Enquirer; Prevention; Fast Company; and The Daily Athenaeum (which she managed in college). She's founded other companies, too -- including a public relations agency, a weekly newspaper, a marketing company, and a web development firm that serves small businesses in Appalachia. She also started one of the first blogs on the Internet (Washington Socialites) that received more traffic than either Gawker or PerezHilton.com in the early '90s.
From time to time, Kelly Ann is still called upon by clients she worked with early in her career (think sports teams, musicians and celebrities) to help cultivate online fan clubs, game experiences, TV ads, public relations campaigns and charity endeavors.
In her spare time, she likes to help some of her favorite causes; to make silly viral videos and PSAs; and to do fun things (like judging regional-stage "American Idol" contestants). As a result, she has appeared on MTV and FunnyOrDie.com. Her name has also popped up in the media for some of her social-media shenanigans (think New York Social Diary, Media Bistro and The Washington Post). She was also a guest at the White House's first-ever tweet-up (2011) where she was recognized with 11 other Americans for her love of the Twittersphere.
So, does she have a nickname -- other than workaholic? Most people call her the "glitter girl," but she's also been dubbed a “Leader of the Pack” by POLITICO for her social and philanthropic endeavors.
